Blood Donation and Transfusion
We guarantee the quality of donated and transfused blood, we are responsible for haemovigilance throughout the whole of Catalonia and are the reference centre for diagnosis and follow-up of problems related to blood transfusion.
• Encourage donation in blood donation centres and mobile units.
• Separate blood components to prepare different products.
• Validate donations by carrying out the necessary tests to ensure the quality of the blood products.
• Supply blood banks in all the healthcare centres in Catalonia.
• Produce blood products in partnership with the pharmaceutical industry.
• Carry out compatibility tests and administer blood products for transfusions in a large number of healthcare centres.
• Carry out therapeutic aphaeresis.
