| 12 - Treating blood stem cells |
12.1- Concentration
This is the reduction of the product volume by reducing the plasma content by a manual or automatic centrifuge with the COBE 2991 processor.
This process can be used for concentrations of stem cells obtained from bone marrow and peripheral blood. |
12.2- Obtaining the buffy-coat or leuko-platelet layer
12.3- Eliminating the red blood cells
By adding Hespan and then centrifuging. This technique is applicable to stem cell products from bone marrow, peripheral blood and umbilical cord blood |
12.4.- Purged or elimination of T and B lymphocytes
Utilizing monoclonal antibodies attached to magnetic balls that specifically eliminate the lymphocytes of bone marrow and peripheral blood stem cell concentrations. |
12.5- Positive selection
This is obtaining CD34 + cells by means of monoclonal antibodies, attached to magnetic balls, of aphaeresis products from stem cells or bone marrow. |
12.6.- Treatment with ASTA-Z
In order to eliminate residual neoplastic cells from the concentrations of stem cells in patients diagnosed with LAM in remittance.
