Diabetes mellitus
If you are diabetic and are treated with insulin, we regret to inform you that you cannot be a blood donor. There are other injectable medications that are not insulin and do not disqualify you from giving blood.
If your doctor is managing you with oral medication and diet, and you have no vascular complications, you can donate as long as you are feeling well.
If you had sugar problems during pregnancy that have since resolved, you can give blood.
