Phenotypic Characterisation of Platelets
Clinical information
Diagnostic Utility:
This test evaluates the phenotype of platelets from different types of samples such as platelet pools, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), platelet apheresis, etc. Specifically, it assesses the expression of different membrane proteins: CD41a (GP IIb), CD49e (integrin α5), CD42b (GP Ibα), CD36 (GP IV) as well as the activation markers CD62P (P-selectin), CD63, and Annexin V.
Method:
Flow Cytometry.
Reference Values
The results are quantitative (expressed in percentage) and may vary depending on the type of sample analyzed or whether they come from a healthy donor or a patient.
Diagnostic Algorithm:
Not applicable.
Turnaround Time:
1 day.
