Test Catalog

Rh E Phenotype

Code: 0503

Type: Estudis eritrocitaris

Clinical information

Diagnostic Utility:

This test is used to determine the presence or absence of the Rh E antigen on red blood cells. It is part of the erythrocyte phenotype study. It is also useful in the context of studying the specificity of irregular antibodies to demonstrate that in the presence of anti-E specificity, the person who developed the antibody is E negative.

Method: Hemagglutination.

Reference Values

Possible results are: Negative, Positive.

In case of a doubtful result, due to a possible RHCE variant or previous transfusions, this is reported and the need for complementary studies for the unequivocal cataloging of the RhE phenotype is indicated.

Diagnostic Algorithm:

Not applicable.

Turnaround Time:

1 day.
