Clinical information

Diagnostic Utility:

This test is used to determine whether the Lea antigen is present on red blood cells or not. It is part of the erythrocyte phenotyping study. It is also useful in the context of studying the specificity of irregular antibodies to demonstrate that in the presence of an anti-Lea specificity, the person who developed the antibody is Lea negative.
