Cellular Therapies

The Cellular Therapy division of the Banc de Sang i Teixits (Blood and Tissue Bank), works to develop safe, personalised solutions through cell therapy and tissue engineering to improve people's health. These solutions may be the product of the division's own research or of strategic alliances with other institutions and organisations in the industry.

It aspires to become a leading name in its field, forging a solid international reputation among patients, medical professionals and health care organisations.

Its activities focus on three general areas: traumatology, haematology and immunology.

In traumatology, is developing solutions to treat injuries and degenerative diseases affecting the musculoskeletal system, such as arthrosis, arthritis, pseudoarthrosis and avascular necrosis of the hip.

In the field of immunology, the efforts are focused on finding effective treatments for neurodegenerative diseases.

With regard to haematology, the division participates in international projects like RedOnTap, which aims to discover a method for creating blood from stem cells, and other initiatives in this scientific field such as ALLOSTEM and EUROCORD.
