Barcelona hosts the first Haemovigilance Seminar ever held in Spain

The 16th International Haemovigilance Seminar kicks off tomorrow in Barcelona. This is the first time it has ever been held in Spain, and thanks to the proactive efforts of the Banc de Sang i Teixits (Blood and Tissue Bank, BST) the organisation chose Barcelona as the host city.

The BST, the International Haemovigilance Network and the Spanish Society of Blood Transfusion are the co-organisers of this international event.

This Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, approximately 300 experts from 42 different countries will gather in Barcelona's Axa Auditorium to debate haemovigilance issues in the context of blood donation, processing and transfusion, among other topics.

The organisation has appointed Dr. Eduardo Muñiz, director of the BST Immunohaematology Laboratory, to chair the seminar.

The full programme of events and list of sessions in which other BST professionals will participate can be found on the following website: http://ihs-seminar.org
