BST Analytics

BST Analytics is the innovation initiative dedicated to harnessing data science and artificial intelligence to enhance blood donation, inventory management, and the distribution of blood components. Its mission is to transform data into actionable insights that improve the safety, efficiency, and responsiveness of the blood supply and transfusion system in Catalonia.

The initiative brings together a multidisciplinary team with expertise in strategic leadership, clinical operations, donor engagement, information and communication technologies, and data science. Through this collaborative approach, BST Analytics develops advanced machine learning, deep learning, and mathematical optimization models to address key challenges across the blood value chain.

Current research and innovation activities focus on understanding donor behavior, optimizing donor recruitment and collection planning, improving blood and plasma demand forecasting, and enhancing inventory management. BST Analytics integrates predictive analytics into operational decision-making to help ensure that blood and blood components are available whenever and wherever they are needed.

Through innovative data-driven solutions, BST Analytics contributes to a more resilient, efficient, and sustainable transfusion system, ultimately improving patient care and public health outcomes.
