Autoimmune diseases

You can give blood if your disease only affects one organ, with the exception of the cardiovascular system, you are well and have been off immunosuppressant treatment for more than a year.

You can donate if you are on maintenance treatment with the following medications and do not have cardiovascular involvement:

  1. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
  2. Sulfasalazine
  3. Methotrexate
  4. Hydroxychloroquine

If your disease is active or affects more than one organ, we regret to inform you that you cannot be a blood donor, with the exception of Sjögren's syndrome. In this case, you can give blood if the involvement is limited to the eyes and salivary glands.
