If you have bronchitis or pneumonia, you must put off giving blood for 14 days after the end of treatment, provided you are feeling well.

If you have a history of obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome, you may donate as long as you are asymptomatic and on CPAP support.

We regret to inform you that you cannot be a blood donor under the following circumstances:

  1. Severe chronic respiratory disease
  2. Pulmonary emphysema
  3. Repeated episodes of coughing and sputum production
  4. Shortness of breath at rest or with minimal exertion
  5. Bronchiectasis
