Bipolar disorder
Taking medication such as lithium, benzodiazepines or antidepressants does not in itself prevent you from being a blood donor.
As with all conditions, an assessment of your well-being will be made each time you come to donate blood, which includes fully understanding and consenting to the blood donation process and screening tests.
If you have a certain emotional instability or bipolar tendency that requires frequent medical supervision, or severe depression treated with neuroleptics, you should put off giving blood until you have recovered.
